I've been thinking of upgrading from my crappy Kodak/Sony PS to a beginner DSLR.
Choices: Nikon D40 Olympus E-410 Pentax K100D
I have experience with mechanical SLR cameras since I own 3 (Nikon FM Series) but no experience with digital SLRs. From what I've read so far, the D40 seems to be the best especially with the "live feed" view through the LCD when you change the settings.
Thoughts? Ideas?

I cant stand Nikons. I dont know what it is about them. Never have and never will like them.
I am a Canon guy. I have an old school AE-1 35mm camera, have used an XTi and a 30D. I just love every aspect of the way they feel, are used and photograph.
I say no to olympus and pentax. If those are your only 3 choices, the Nikon is the better of the 3. But take a look at the Rebel xTI. Its coming down in price and can be had for around $500 new.
(plus, with canon, ANY lense fits ANY camera. my AE-1 200mm lens fits the xTi and the 30D...along with the flash that I have for the AE-1)
